Nordic
The Nordic lived from about 200 to 500 AD in Northern Europe and Scandinavia. After 700 AD, the Nordic migrated in search of new land, settling in parts of the British Isles, Iceland, Greenland and eastward into Russia. After this period became known as the Nordic Vikings.
Midgard is the realm where humans live, the Earth. Was created when the god Odin and his brothers Vili and Ve killed the giant Ymir. In Nordic mythology, the world was considered a giant tree, called the World Tree or Yggdrasil, which existed around the nine kingdoms, each at a different level. Stand to the tree roots and branches shade the world gave him. The roots of the tree down to the underworld. On the surface, Midgard is surrounded by a giant snake. Bifrost is a huge bridge that connects Asgard to Midgard, the home of the gods.
Aegir was a fierce god of the sea. He had fingers like claws. His wife was named Ran, and had nine daughters, the maidens who were thought to moving waves. Aegir sometimes appeared in the sea to destroy the boats. Often, he and his wife were using nets to capture the sailors, and bring them to the underwater kingdom. The masters gave coins to each sailor, as if they might have caught a gift to the gods. Saxon pirates offered as a sacrifice to every tenth prisoner, thus ensuring a safe journey through the Sea of Aegir. Aegir was the god represented as a powerful, often holding a spear. He is very similar to the Greek god Poseidon.
Njord was the god of the sea and wind in the Nordic mythology. He is the father of Freyr and Freya, and the leader of the Vanir. Njord married to the giant Skadi. Skadi's father was killed by the gods. To compensate for its loss, Skadi was allowed to choose a husband among the gods. She was not allowed to look them in the face, just feet. She chose the most beautiful feet you saw, thinking it belonged to the god Balder. In fact they were the feet of Njord. Skadi was accustomed to living in the icy mountains and Njord was accustomed to living at sea. This led to his complicated marriage, and eventually decided to live separately.
Tyr was the god of the sky in the Nordic mythology. The sacrificed one of his hands for the sake of the gods. In Asgard, the land of the gods, had possessed a wolf named Fenrir. It was so big and fierce that only Tyr dared to approach. The gods decided to tie the wolf, using an unbroken chain made by the dwarfs. The wolf, wishing that the chain of evidence was harmless, he called one of the gods put one hand on your mouth while you put the chain. The beast was disappointed when he learned that the chain could not be broken. Tyr had sacrificed his hand so that the gods would feel more secure. Odin took the place of Tyr as a god of the sky around the ages eight and nine.
Odin was the god of the Nordic powerful. It was called The Great Father. He is represented as a middle-aged man with long, curly hair and beard. His gun, called Gungnir was a spear that he made the Dwarves. Was frequently accompanied by two ravens named Hugin (Thought) and Munin (memory). For his thirst for knowledge, Odin sacrificed one of his eyes to take the roots of the World Tree, Yggdrasil. To discover the secret of runes (magical incantations), Odin hung from the tree of the world for nine days.
Their special assistants were some women warriors called Valkyrie. The Valkyrie took the bodies of warriors killed in battles to Valhala, located in the town of Paradise. Around the eighth century and nine, took the role of Odin the sky god Tyr. Along with his brothers Vili and Ve, Odin created the world body of the giant Ymir.
Nordic mythology associates the aurora with the beautiful goddess Freya, the daughter of Njord and Skadi giant. Freya was the goddess of beauty and love, as well as battles and death. Friday was named for her. She always represent using his famous necklace called Brisingamen, which gave the dwarves. His brother was the Sun god Freyr. In one story, a man offered to rebuild the wall if the gods give Freya as his wife, as well as the Sun and Moon. Loki tricked the man and the man was unable to finish the wall in time. Freya was free of the control of man.
According to Nordic mythology, Freyr was associated with the Sun was the god of peace and fertility. His parents were the sea god Njord and Skadi giant. On a trip to the underworld saw and fell in love with the giant Gerd. He sent his servant, Skirnir on a trip to convince Gerd to marry him. It also gave him a magic sword to use it. Skirnir, however, was unable to convince Gerd to marry his master. It was not until threatened with the sword magic Gerd agreed to meet Freyr in a grove to become his wife. Skirnir trip to the underworld is symbolic of the winter months in the Nordic lands, where there are long periods of darkness.
In Nordic mythology, Sif was the wife of Thor, the mighty god of thunder. Sif was a loyal wife. She was considered the symbol of fidelity. Once the evil god Loki cut long blond braids to Sif. When Thor discovered this, he could not control his anger and grabbed Loki, threatening to break bones. Loki cried and asked for leniency and promised to convince Thor that dwarves hair to create a very pure refined gold, to grow like natural hair on the head of Sif.
One of the volcanoes of the planet Venus is known as the Nordic goddess Sif. Most elements of the planet Venus are named with the names of famous women and goddesses. The most likely reason for which is named for the elements of this is because Venus is the only planet that has the name of a goddess, the Roman goddess of love and beauty.
Bifrost, the rainbow was the bridge that connected the Earth called Midgard, to Asgard, home of the gods. Only the gods could cross this bridge, which was protected by the god Heimdall. This bridge has also been associated with the Milky Way.
It was believed that a great battle between good and evil end the destruction of the gods. During the battle, Bifrost was broken due to the weight of the monsters.
In the story, all the gods and everything on earth disappeared beneath the sea. However, the land rises from the water and life began again.
